Volunteer Management Program
BMC’s
volunteer Management program is as
old as the agency itself. Since
1987, our volunteer management
program has been one of the most
successful programs of the agency.
Volunteers are the bedrock of the
organization. The agency relies on
its volunteers in every facet of its
provision regarding its services to
the clients. There is no negating
the fact that volunteers played a
critical role in providing services
to the newcomers and immigrants. In
fact, volunteers have made an
immeasurable difference in the lives
of our clients.
Our
volunteers are involved in various
programs of the agency such as the
Immigrant Settlement & Adaptation
Pro (ISAP), the Job Search Workshops
(JSW) and Multicultural Settlement &
Education Partnership (MSEP). The
volunteers have always supported and
assisted with our activities and
events. They have played an
indispensable role in our
fundraising activities. Also, they
have been a part of the great
success of our Access Centre. In
addition to that, our volunteers
have also contributed to the success
of our interpretation services for
clients, especially for newcomers
and immigrants from all walks of
life.
Brampton
Multicultural Community Centre’s
volunteer management program
welcomes everyone to actively
participate in it. Our volunteers
are selected and screened based on
their skills, qualities and needs.
On the contrary, volunteers without
skills and qualities are also
accepted in our agency after a
careful and thorough screening. Our
volunteers are self-referrals,
school placements, from Ontario
works, and other organizations as
well. We get more of our volunteers
from Ontario Works with whom
we have
partnered for a long time.
BMC’s
volunteers have gained meaningful
jobs within and outside the Region
of Peel. Various volunteers have
been employed in retail/customer
service, administration and other
speciality areas. In addition to
that, our certain volunteers have
also been hired within the agency
itself. Our Job Search Workers and
Job Developers have consistently and
successfully helped volunteers to
get jobs in their related fields.
During their
course of volunteering, the
volunteers at BMC have acquired
skills and experiences required in
the Canadian Workplace. Notes and
letters of thanks from volunteers
are crystal evidence of the immense
benefits they have acquired during
their stay at the BMC.
The Brampton
Multicultural Community centre has
always welcomed volunteers from all
walks of life and will continue to
do the same. We will continue to
support our volunteers to acquire
the skills, knowledge, and
experience needed to be employed
within the Canadian workplace
environment.
BMC is proud of
its volunteers for their time,
experience, wisdom and patience they
brought to the agency.
